'Boy Soldier' and 'A New Hope'

(1. Child soldier...2.Unexpected painting for my painting class)
Both of these paintings was for my painting class and they had to be based on something meaningful and unexpected. The first painting was inspired by a book I read in my Honors Modern Global class this year. It was called 'Memoirs of a Boy Soldier,' by Ishmael Beah. His memoir of his life was so amazing and shocking at the same time. I had to do a research paper for school and I chose to base it on child soldiers. The things they told about were horrific and sad. It's so hard to believe how some people can be so cruel and heartless and see how brave and corageous others are in situations you never thought possible...
The second painting is an unexpected painting that I wanted to base on the destruction of the environment from humans (the factorys, the oil filled river, the cut down forest). The spray can with doves coming out is suppose to represent hope. That through our own doing there is still hope to change and make a difference.

Celebritie Icons

(1.Marilyn Monroe...2.Audrey Hepburn...3.Kate Moss)
Who doesn't have a favorite celebritie icon? I wanted to paint some pictures of icons just for the fun of it. My sister is madly obsessed with Marilyn Monroe! I really liked the movies, 'Some Like It Hot,' and 'How to Marry a Millionaire.' One of my favorite actresses is Audrey Hepburn. I loved her in the movie 'Charade' with Cary Grant. If I was trapped on a desert island, that would be the movie I'd take for sure! The Kate Moss picture was just because I liked the lighting and shadows in the composition.

Jason reborn

Awhile ago my friend Kyle asked me to custom design and make a mask for him.

Em's custom painted shoes

Okay, so when I enlarged the pictures from Jack Pine Cafe they were really blurry and weird looking. I think it's finally time for a new and better quality camera! If I get a new camera I will definetly be more cautious and careful about not dropping it a million times. These are some pictures of some custom painted shoes my friend wanted for her birthday.

Art work at Jack Pine Cafe!

No, I'm not just laying around. I'm signing.

This is the logo of Jack Pine Cafe above the yogurt machines.

('Jack Pine Cafe' in Park Rapids!)
Out of all the art jobs I've done so far I think this one was the most enjoyable but difficult due to the fact that I had a pink cast on thanks to a lacrosse injury. It's always fun to try new things though. If you ever have the chance to go up to Park Rapids in Minnesota, check out Jack Pine Cafe and enjoy some delicious frozen yogurt! I have yet to try some, but I plan on going up there soon to see how Dan's business is coming along. Good luck to you and Todd!
